Why We Run -- Meet Team Adam

Why do hundreds of runners, walkers, volunteers, and friends of CDR gather together every year in the heat of August to run a 5K? The CDR Superhero 5K helps to fund the programs that many families in the Historic Triangle couldn't imagine going without.

The Marcerons are one such family. When Adam Marceron was born with special needs and developmental challenges his parents, Katie and Aaron, turned to CDR for help and support.

"CDR has become an extension of our family," said Katie Marceron. "When you have a child with special needs, you don't always know what to do. But we had a local organization that helped us, offered support, services, therapy, and a shoulder to lean on."

The Marceron family decided to form a team for the 5K.  It didn't take long for  family members and friends from across the country to jump in to donate and support Team Adam.

"We put information out on Facebook and through email asking for support," said Katie. "And we got it!"

Team Adam quickly became one of CDR’s top fundraising teams and Adam, and his family and friends, are also enthusiastic participants in the race! Go Team Adam!

CDR was saddened to learn of the passing of Adam Marceron on June 5, 2017. Our thoughts and sincere condolences to Adam's wonderful family and supportive friends.
